Performance | Creation

My performance work explores the relationship between self and other and the space or non-space between them. I examine history and contemporary culture in search of direct and indirect representations of this thematic, employing, modifying, and adapting my findings in ways that illuminate their connections to post-modern identities, ideologies, and politics. My mediums include theatre, performance, text, photography, and new media, and often a combination thereof.

cominedcopylegacy (a doll’s house) is a durational performance based on Henrik Ibsen’s play A Doll’s House, created by Fannina Waubert de Puiseau  in collaboration with dancer-choreographer Melina Stinson.

Combining three components — examination, experimentation, and exhibition — the performance asks to what extent unipolar depression, currently the most common women’s mental health problem and twice as common in women as in men (WHO), comprises the legacy of women’s liberation, a movement accompanied by notions of dislocation, disorientation, re-definition, and radical vulnerability.

legacy (a doll’s house) is currently in development. We are seeking partners and funders in Canada and Germany to help us get this project ready for touring by late 2016.
